The fifth annual Danny Awards took place this Thursday at Tobacco Road in Miami. The awards are put together by local music promoter and Danny Jessup who has been hosting a local music night at tobacco road for several years. The awards are a fun and rather debauched event and a great excuse for local area bands to get together, play a few songs and laugh as many receive awards such as “the asshole award,” “the music writer award” or “the loudest band” award. Ed Hale and the Transcendence received an award for “packing ‘em in” thanks to fans always filling the venue whenever they play there. When asked to comment, Ed Hale said: “I am just honored and relieved that we didn’t receive the award for “biggest pussys of the year” or something like that. With Danny you never know what to expect.” Drummer Ricardo Mazzi said, “I’m honored to receive this award, what is it?”
