Rise and Shine reviewed at Score! Music Magazine
Kimmie, Score! Music’s Webmistress says: “Better Luck Next Time”, “Love Is You” and “Letter To A Friend” are so incredibly, hauntingly Bowie, thus it comes as no surprise that he’s listed as an influence. In addition to Bowie’s brand of classic rock, the band cites Pulp, Radiohead and U2 (apparent on “Mother”) as influences. Rise and Shine is a very eclectic mix of modern rock and world music with strong Brazilian, Latin, West African and Middle Eastern styles, branded as “transcendent rock” and “planet music”. It is interesting to say the least, with great hooks and melodies, fascinating arrangements, and beautiful production.
