TRANSCENDENCE to release a third album this year?

With two new albums due to release this year, both the conceptual alt-rock All Your Heroes Become Villains – featuring the singles Blind Eye, Waiting for Godot, and Solaris, and their ragged bubblegum pop & garage rock set The Great Mistake, TRANSCENDENCE has announced that it will be releasing yet a third – a digitally-exclusive rarities and unreleased set entitled The City of Lost Children (the title comes from the 1995 classic movie CitÃ© des enfants perdus, La, and seemed appropriate for the album’s material)

The new album contains 14 never before released songs consisting primarily of outtakes that have been floating around in various form for years on the internet. For fans the album should be a welcome surprise and tasty morsel because it contains everything from outtakes from all three of the band’s prior albums, plus outtakes from the band’s two new as of yet unreleased albums, along with a few odds and ends including some demos and instrumental pieces.

“This just might end up being one of my favorite TRANSCENDENCE albums ever just due to the fact that it features songs from our entire spectrum…. you know, the band has gone through so many style and sound changes over the years and this album really illustrates that for the first time all in one collection,” commented the band’s singer/guitarist Ed Hale.

The collection will include everything from the sultry r&b tinged Whenever I’m with you – which has been heard on various TV shows numerous times over the last eight years, to the band’s September 11th tribute song Rebuild America – the proceeds of which will go to the Robinhood Relief Fund to benefit victims’ families of the 9/11 attacks in New York. The album also features the first song the band ever officially recorded, Kill the monkey, originally slated for their Rise and Shine album, but scrapped at the last minute.

RISE AND SHINE CD Release Party Footage Released for the first time

The 2002 release of the Rise and shine CD was the official coming out party for Transcendence, being the first Ed Hale related album since 2000′s Acoustic in New York . The video footage of the CD release party was thought to be lost. In fact, the video tapes are still missing, which is too bad, because it was a grand affair. But an 8 minute Rise and shine CD release party video montage that was created in the summer of 2002 by Capsule Media was just recently discovered. It features original band members Stro on bass and Jon Rose on keyboards and a very nervous Ed singing the songs Mother and Tres cool from the rise and shine CD, and also Minnie Driver and Keep moving on from the group’s next CD Sleep with you. The video closes with the band performing Better luck next time at an undisclosed venue.
